An interior pressure relief system or footing drain is intended to manage the level of water under a basement slab. Conditions that require pressure relief systems are normally subject to high water levels of prone to perched water during storms.

Open-backed systems allow water vapor and radon an easy path to your living space. Closed or sealed systems prevent this from happening by their very nature of being sealed from living space.
