Basement Waterproofing and Cove Seepage | Long Island, NY
Before approaching any type of foundation repairs or basement waterproofing service providers, it’s important to have an idea of what the problem is. Money and time can be thrown away because of difficult, hard to diagnose repairs.
Fortunately, some foundation and basement waterproofing issues are relatively simple to diagnose, making hiring a good repair contractor that much easier.
Cove seepage is precisely one of those basement issues. Cove seepage occurs when the water saturation/water table level underneath your home is greater than the depth of your basement floor. In other words, water is being exposed to the bottom of your foundation floor at a pressure great enough that water will start to squeeze its way in.
Repairing Basement Cove Seepage
The repair process for basement cove seepage is relatively straight forward. You’re not doing yourself any favors if you attempt to seal off your basement from the elements; you actually have to relieve the water pressure, pump it out, and route it away from your foundation.
This can be achieved with perforated, stone-filtered drain tile and a sump pump installed along the interior perimeter of your basement or crawl space. Remember, “band-aid” fixes don’t work! To be permanently effective, you’ve got to relieve the pressure and route the water elsewhere.
